Ultrajets provide more static and mid-range thrust than any other waterjet on the market. Our jets excel where high bollard pull and exceptional acceleration is a craft requirement and boat speed must not be sacrificed to achieve this. This mid range thrust is also critical on heavily laden craft to ensure that the transition to planing speeds is reliably achieved and provides fuel efficient cruise speeds. We have a total commitment to quality and utilise many unique materials from our military jets programme which provide durable and reliable performance. We are ISO 9001 and MOD Approved and our designs comply with rules laid down by ABS, Lloyds and Det Norske Veritas. Ultra Dynamics has been designing and building waterjet propulsion equipment from the mid 1950s when the Dowty Turbocraft jet boat was introduced. Since then Ultra has fitted in excess of 15,000 waterjets to all types of craft worldwide.
The UltraJet range is capable of absorbing powers up to a maximum of 1,268 kW (1700 bhp)in high-speed craft. In many cases this can be achieved without the need for a gearbox. UltraJets are supplied as compact propulsion packages, with fully integrated control systems mounted on the jet and all cables supplied with durable waterproof connectors for “plug and play”. The basic components of the waterjet is an axial flow impeller (single or two stage), made of stainless steel to ensure maximum durability in contaminated water conditions. It is matched to the power curve of the selected engine/gearbox. The impeller is supplied in four- or -five blade options to suit the specified power and craft duty. Constructed from marine grade aluminium alloy, the impeller casing incorporates a stainless steel liner to provide maximum durability and to allow for service replacement, if required.

Steering and reverse control system options are available to best suit the type of craft and the operating environment. Hydro-mechanical reverse deflector controls operated by conventional cable systems can be supplied where electro-hydraulic systems would be considered undesirable for use. Full electro-hydraulic controls can be supplied for the steering and reverse deflector operation. Exceptional craft manoeuvrability is achieved with UltraJets and our Joystick Control systems. Options are available for either engine-driven or electrically driven pumps providing hydraulic power for the control systems. Ultra’s range of waterjets represents 40 years of continuous research, development and product advancement. Products and systems are designed and produced in co-operation with boat builders, naval architects and the relevant design authorities. From craft concept to completion, Ultra’s experienced engineering department provides detailed performance evaluations, enabling the correct UltraJet to be specified for each application. This service is backed up by pre-sales and after-sales support.
