Control Engine Room Fuel Oil Leaks

SOLAS regulations require that engine rooms / hot surfaces are protected against hazardous spray outs from pipelines containing fuel or lube oil. These are generally considered as being joints and fittings such as flanges, valves, couplings etc. Allison Engineering can provide you with the solution.

Safety Shields

Manufactured from Multi-layered Teflon coated fibreglass, these shields are supplied to exactly cover fittings and joints (including flanges, valves, tees\s, and couplings). They wrap round the fitting and provide an overlap thus preventing direct and lateral spray-outs, reducing them to a controlled drip.

The design is such that the shield itself cannot create a spray-out since it does not form a seal over the joint. Furthermore, it is reusable in event of maintenance or a leak (or even a fire) and can therefore be used as a long term solution.

This product is ideal where pipe joint information can easily be acquired. It is 100% fire resistant and re-usable, thus offering long term protection, often for the life of the vessel. We simply require joint type and pipe size (eg, 150lb flange,2\" pipeline) in order to provide prices. If this information is not readily available, download our survey sheet below.

Products

Allison Navy Roll

The Type approved Navy Roll has been developed to overcome the disadvantages of conventional forms of shielding. It is of multi layered, fibreglass construction, suitable for the harshest of environments including ship engine rooms.

The shield is supplied on a roll, which is cut to the desired length. Two steel cable ties are threaded through loops which run the length of the shield which is then wrapped around the joint. The ties are pulled tight thus securely holding the shield in place and turning any spray out into a safe drip.

Once installed, the shield can be removed during overhaul and is therefore a long term, economical solution to SOLAS requirements .

Navy Roll is ideally suited for both repair/overhaul of existing vessels and new builds. The nature of the product is such that it can be kept in stock and used for a variety of joints and fittings. In addition to flanges, the roll can be used equally well for couplings, valves, pumps and other non-standard fittings.

Benefits of Allison Navy Roll

  • No Ship Surveys required
  • Inexpensive
  • Reusable
  • Use for low and high pressure lines

NoSpray Oil Spray Protection System

NoSpray Protection System is an aluminium/glass cloth jacketing system designed to prevent the flammable spray of hot oil which can come in contact with hot surfaces thus causing fires in vessel engine rooms.

NoSpray is available in tape or sheet format and is coated one side with a silicone adhesive for ease of installation and superior adhesion.

Manufactured in sheets by laminating 5 base layers with a strong silicon adhesive base, NoSpray is easily applied to most surfaces, supplied in 10m rolls of varying widths from 35mm to 1000mm.

For use in:

  • Exhaust gas pipe
  • Steam pipe
  • Turbo charger
  • Electrical equipment
  • Boiler, thermal oil heater, incinerator
  • Welding spatter
