Our goal is to make ABB turbochargers more efficient, better and more reliable than our competitors’. We are sure that the single greatest advantage we have over our rivals was, and still is, our global service network and product support.
Introduction and systematic application of the ABB Safety Design Concept enables us to offer our customers a highly useful tool for optimising maintenance and minimising unplanned downtime of equipment. SIKO is an excellent tool for the proactive planning of overhauls, thereby helping to prevent avoidable severe breakdown which would affect the profitability and reputation of our customers companies.
Designed to give the user maximum benefit from the product throughout its service life. Also, to increase the reliability of the turbocharger, maximise its safety and make the life cycle costs more predictable.

At ABB a contract is between people therefore ABB supports its customers in meeting their targets.
Once a turbocharger is installed on an engine the next important step on the way towards customer satisfaction is service. When a turbocharger onboard a ship fails, the affected engine can lose up to 75% of its power. Downtime is very costly in the current market, and therefore shipping companies want to be able to count on thorough, reliable maintenance and service, no matter where the ship may be located.
Prevention is always better than repair; therefore ABB Turbo Systems operates a preventative maintenance programme. This means servicing and maintenance work are planned proactively. Whenever possible, it is carried out during a ship’s turnaround time. Knowing and understanding the lifecycle of a turbocharger and its components as well as engine know-how, ensure the availability, reliability and safety of the machines.
With a dedication to global presence, well organised replacement parts service, ultra modern communications technology and qualified technical personnel ABB Turbo Systems is prepared to meet all of these challenges. The heart of this system is a central database. For every single installation, it contains the turbocharger and plant specifications, the complete service history, all customer data and the operating history for monitoring the service intervals.
Also, information is given about which parts are available in which warehouses. This is of major advantage to all our customers. All of this information can be accessed 24 hours a day online by our service centres around the world.
With over 80 service centres worldwide, ABB Turbo Systems have 1600 dedicated specialist personnel working in the turbocharger business division, and they live up to our motto “efficiency plus quality”.
